An additional one case of African swine fever has been confirmed in Germany bringing the total number of cases to 50 swine.
The first case of ASF was identified on September 10 and since then it has been on the increase
affecting the wild boars in Germany.
According
to reports, all of the cases have been seen in wild animals and no farm pigs
have been affected.
Germany’s
federal agriculture ministry says that the latest cases were found in the area
of the first discoveries.
Germany's
Friedrich-Loeffler scientific institute had confirmed the latest animal had
ASF, the ministry said. With ASF being a highly infectious disease, the
ministry has previously warned that more spike in infections of wild boar is to
be expected.
Since
confirming the first case, importations of pork from Germany has been banned by
China and other pork buyers, which has led to increasing in pork sale price in
china.
But
German pig prices remained unchanged this week, continuing a stable trend since
the sharp drop after the first ASF case, as dealers hope for more German pork
sales inside the European Union.
