The Lagos State Government is seeking a partnership with Kwara State for the daily supply of 1,000 cattle to meet the growing demand for livestock products in Lagos.
The Kwara State Government disclosed this during the training of another 100 livestock farmers on the conservation and preservation of forage crops for sustainable animal feed production.
The training was organised under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES.
Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has also approved the purchase of 500,000 cattle as part of efforts to increase milk production in the state.
The latest training brings the number of livestock farmers trained by the state between 2025 and 2026 to 10,000.
Representing the governor, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Livestock Development, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammed, said the state’s investment in modern livestock practices is beginning to attract new opportunities.
He said Lagos had approached Kwara over a possible supply arrangement for 1,000 cattle every day.
Muhammed urged the trained farmers to apply the knowledge gained, particularly in animal feeding and management.
He warned that poor feeding could affect the health of animals and reduce the quality and market value of their meat and milk.
