First Trustees Limited has called for sustainable and market-driven financing models to support the long-term growth of Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The company made the call at its maiden Commercial Trust Colloquium, themed “Beyond Intervention Funds: Building Sustainable Financing Models for Nigerian Agriculture.” The event brought together policymakers, financial institutions, investors, development partners, agribusiness operators and capital market stakeholders to discuss ways of attracting more private investment into agriculture.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Trustees Limited, Ereifemi Akeredolu, said sustainable agricultural growth requires more than access to funding. She stressed the need for clear responsibilities, proper risk management, sound governance and reliable structures that can give investors confidence.
Akeredolu also highlighted the role of trust institutions in promoting accountability, protecting the interests of parties involved in transactions and supporting long-term investment structures.
The company also unveiled an upgraded digital platform designed to simplify trust services, reduce paperwork and improve access to wills, trusts and other services through mobile devices. First Trustees said the platform is part of its effort to improve efficiency and meet the changing needs of its clients.
