Ebonyi Restarts Nkaliki Hatchery, Begins Sale of Eggs and Birds

The Ebonyi State Government says the Nkaliki Hatchery has resumed full poultry production, with layers and broilers now being raised and sold to the public.

The facility, which had experienced a decline in operations, is now receiving individuals, businesses and private buyers purchasing eggs and poultry birds.

In a statement signed by the Special Assistant to Governor Francis Nwifuru on New Media, Leo Oketa, the government said the hatchery had previously contributed to food supply, employment and commercial activities in Ebonyi State and beyond.

The government said the revival is part of Governor Nwifuru’s agricultural agenda under the “People’s Charter of Needs”, which focuses on increasing food production, creating jobs and supporting livelihoods.

Officials also disclosed that a feed mill is being constructed at the facility. The project is expected to support poultry production by making feed available to farmers in Ebonyi and other areas.

The government said the revival is still ongoing, but production has already resumed at the hatchery.

It has encouraged residents and other members of the public to visit the Nkaliki Hatchery and buy eggs and birds directly from the farm.
