Agribusinesses Get New Investment Link Through NAR, Propcom+ Partnership

The Nigeria Agribusiness Register, NAR, has partnered with Propcom+ and other capital providers to improve access to investment for businesses in the agricultural sector.

The initiative was presented at the Agriculture Summit Africa Investment Deal Room in Abuja, where agribusinesses met with investors, financial institutions, development partners and private-sector organisations.

NAR Deal Room and Partnership Manager, Mr Nathaniel Odiba, said the platform was created to connect promising agribusinesses with funding, technical support and market opportunities needed for expansion.

He said businesses were able to present their operations, financing needs and growth plans to potential investors and commercial partners through pitch sessions and one-on-one meetings.

Odiba added that discussions with interested investors would continue after the summit where viable opportunities were identified.

Country Representative of Propcom+, Dr Adiya Ode, said lack of finance was not the only challenge facing agribusinesses, adding that businesses also needed to be prepared for investment and provide financiers with enough information to assess their operations.

She said Propcom+ supported the Deal Room to build stronger links between agricultural businesses and potential financial and commercial partners.

Ode said the eight-year programme, running from 2023 to 2030, supports rural and agricultural market development, as well as climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture and forestry.
