Olam Agri Urges Poultry Farmers to Improve Flock Management for Higher Returns

Olam Agri has called on poultry farmers to adopt better flock management practices to improve productivity and increase profits.

The company’s Regional Manager for North Central, Patience Nnadozie, made the call at the Olam Agri Farmers’ Forum in Mararaba.

Nnadozie said the forum was organised to train farmers on improved poultry management and ways to achieve better returns from their businesses.

She also introduced the company’s upgraded Chikun and Ultima Layer feeds, along with Ultima and Ultima+ Broiler feeds.

According to her, the upgraded feeds have higher protein and energy levels designed to support egg production, egg quality and profitability.

Nnadozie said increasing flock size was currently difficult because of the limited availability of point-of-lay birds. She therefore advised farmers to focus on getting higher egg yields from their existing birds.

She added that the upgraded broiler feeds were designed to support faster weight gain, shorter production cycles and lower production costs.

Ochi Ogbode, Area Sales Manager, advised farmers to keep poultry litter dry to reduce the risk of coccidiosis and other infectious diseases.

Veterinary Technical Executive, Dr Daniel Stephen, also urged farmers to conduct routine testing, maintain equipment, monitor feed and water consumption, and train their workers regularly.

He stressed that monitoring water intake could help farmers detect health problems early and maintain healthy flocks.
