Lalong Tasks New NVRI Director on Veterinary Research, Livestock Growth

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has congratulated Dr. Yakubu Dashe Gunya on his appointment as Director and Chief Executive of the National Veterinary Research Institute, NVRI, Vom.

Gunya visited the senator to thank him for his support and encouragement, while pledging to serve the institute with integrity, professionalism and commitment.

Lalong described the appointment as an opportunity to serve the country and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving Gunya’s appointment.

He urged the new NVRI chief to use his experience to reposition the institute and strengthen its contribution to Nigeria’s agricultural and livestock sectors.

Lalong, a former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agricultural Institutions and Colleges, also called on Gunya to focus on livestock diseases, veterinary research and livestock management.

He said NVRI has an important role in providing research, scientific innovation and technical support needed to develop a productive and sustainable livestock industry.

The senator further urged Gunya to maintain accountability and professionalism while working with relevant stakeholders.

Lalong expressed confidence that Gunya’s leadership would contribute to the development of NVRI and Nigeria’s livestock sector.
