Egypt Approves 907 Livestock Licences, Adds EGP59.85m to Veal Project

Egypt’s Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation issued 907 operating licences for livestock, poultry, feed and dairy collection projects in August.

The ministry also approved EGP59.85 million in new financing under the National Veal Project. The funding will support 47 beneficiaries raising 855 cattle.

Since the project began, more than EGP11.514 billion has been provided to 46,398 small-scale breeders, graduates and women in villages covered by the Decent Life initiative. The funding has supported more than 543,417 cattle.

The ministry said 167 of the licences issued in August went to small breeders for livestock rearing, in coordination with veterinary authorities.

Another 28 technical approvals were issued for animal and poultry production projects in desert areas, mainly to meet biosecurity requirements and keep major production activities away from residential areas.

Authorities also supervised the destruction of 2,304 tonnes and 1,200 litres of non-compliant imported feed additives.

The ministry approved 777 registrations for feed mixtures, additives and concentrates, including 416 locally produced and 361 imported products.

It also provided technical support to 47 feed factories covering 106 production lines, while eight training and extension sessions were held for livestock breeders across several governorates.

Egypt also exported fish feed, feed additives, frozen poultry, table eggs and frozen birds, including quail, duck, pigeon and turkey, to Arab and international markets.
