Adamawa Restates Support for Livestock Sector Growth

The Adamawa State Government says it will continue to invest in livestock development to improve food security, create jobs and support rural communities.

Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta gave the assurance when she received the Minister of Livestock Development, Dr. Mukhtar Idi Maiha, in Yola.

Maiha was in the state to commission a 40-million-dose vaccine storage facility and other livestock development projects.

Farauta praised the Federal Government’s interventions in the livestock sector, describing the industry as important to the economy of Adamawa and Nigeria.

She said the state would work with the Federal Government to strengthen livestock value chains and provide resources needed by farmers.

The Deputy Governor also welcomed the establishment of an Artificial Insemination Centre at Adamawa State University, Mubi, and called for stronger extension services to help farmers adopt modern production methods.

Maiha said the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development was established to support the modernisation of livestock production and improve the sector’s profitability and sustainability.

He said the Federal Government’s programme is also aimed at improving food security, creating jobs and supporting economic growth, especially in rural areas.

During the visit, the minister presented three investment roadmaps for the livestock sector to the Adamawa State Government.
