The Poultry Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, says it will partner with academics and veterinary professionals to train poultry farmers on modern production methods to improve productivity and profitability.
The association's Chairman, Mojeed Iyiola, said the training will be held during its annual conference later this month with the theme, **"Transforming Nigeria's Poultry Industry Through Innovations and Investments."** He said researchers from Nigerian tertiary institutions and practising veterinarians will train farmers on improved poultry production techniques, technologies and management practices.
Iyiola said the conference is aimed at educating and retraining poultry farmers while creating stronger links between researchers and industry operators. He said more than 500 poultry farmers are expected to attend and learn improved production systems that can increase output.
He identified poor knowledge of poultry management as one of the major challenges affecting the sector, noting that many farmers lack adequate understanding of biosecurity, feed formulation, feeding practices and standard poultry housing. He said the conference will help address these gaps and provide farmers with practical knowledge to improve productivity and profitability.
