The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development says it will establish a Ministerial SERVICOM Unit and develop a Service Charter to strengthen transparency, accountability, and service delivery to the public.
The commitment was announced by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Chinyere Ijeoma Akujobi, during a meeting with a SERVICOM delegation led by Acting National Coordinator, Mrs. Helen Lawal, at the ministry's headquarters in Abuja. She said the ministry remains focused on meeting set targets and improving monitoring systems to track performance.
Dr. Akujobi stressed the need for accountability in public service, noting that staff who perform well should be rewarded, while those who fall short should face appropriate consequences. She also disclosed that a dedicated budget line would be created from 2027 to support SERVICOM activities within the ministry.
Earlier, the Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Eto-Abasi Okokon, said the ministry had made significant progress in service delivery despite being one of the country's newest ministries. He attributed the achievements to the leadership of the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, and the Permanent Secretary.
Speaking at the meeting, Mrs. Lawal said SERVICOM would work with the ministry on staff training, customer satisfaction surveys, complaints management, and the development of a Service Charter. She explained that the charter would outline service standards and timelines, helping citizens hold the ministry accountable for effective service delivery.
