Hybrid Feeds unveil Four New Feed Product-lines at Abeokuta Farmers Forum


Hybrid Feeds Ltd, a leading feed production company in the Nigeria livestock industry, officially unveiled four brand new feed product lines during a Farmers’ Forum in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Wednesday.



The Farmers’ Forum themed, “Sustaining Profitability in Poultry Production” was held at the Fed Evento Centre, Isale Igbein, Abeokuta, Ogun State and had numerous poultry and fish farmers from Abeokuta axis of Ogun State in attendance.

Also present at the event was the MD/CEO Animal Arena Veterinary Services, Dr. Olalekan Odunsi, the immediate past Chairman of Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) Egba Zone, Mr. Isaac Ajani, a veteran poultry producer, Mrs. Amosun, the representative of the CEO Arojo Veterinary Service, Dr. Jide, and the CEO of Animal Feed Depot Olomore, Mr. Osinbade Solomon.

While delivering the welcome address, the MD/CEO of Hybrid Feeds Ltd, Dr. Leye Alayande ably represented by the South West Regional Manager, Mr. Deji Obatayo, said Hybrid Feeds Ltd is a company born out of necessity to satisfy the need of livestock farmers in terms of quality and affordable feeds. He continued that the company has enjoyed a steady and continuous growth since inception and today Hybrid Feeds ltd has feed production plants in Kaduna, Asaba and Ibadan.

The chairman of the occasion, Dr. Olalekan Odunsi, expressed joy and appreciated the management of Hybrid Feeds Ltd for deeming it fit to organize the event. He however encouraged the participants to engage the professional personnel present in order to get answers to questions regarding quality feed and general wellbeing of their animals.

Two lectures were delivered during the event; the first lecture titled “Prospect of Tilapia Fish Farming in Nigeria” was facilitated by Mr. Saheed Ajagbe - the National Publicity Secretary of Tilapia Producers of Nigeria and the CEO of MacFish Farms, Lagos.

In his 40 minutes lecture, Mr. Ajagbe explained the numerous benefits of tilapia fish farming, the reproductive behavior of various species of tilapia fish, requirements and factors to be considered when setting up tilapia fish farming business and general tilapia management practices.

The second lecture titled “Poultry Sustainability and Profitability: A Case for Cost Efficiency” was delivered by Dr. Tunde Aderounmu of Hybrid Feeds Ltd. While moderately garnished with humor, Dr. Aderounmu emphasized the major challenges of poultry production in Nigeria and dwell more on Biosecurity and effective vaccination, among other point, as a way of sustaining profitability in poultry business.

The four new product-lines were commissioned and unveiled by Dr. Odunsi and aided by Mr. Deji Obatayo. The four new feed product-lines are:

Broiler Starter Crumble,
Broiler Finisher Pellet
Hycon Layers Concentrate
Hygold Fish feed

The South West Regional Manager explained that the Broiler Starter Crumble and Finisher Pellet were added to the Broiler Product-lines as a response to the popular demands of broiler farmers. Hycon layer concentrate is an upgraded version of Hybrid Layers Concentrate with 30% concentrate while the Hygold Fish Feed is the first Fish feed produced by Hybrid feeds ltd, he concluded.

While speaking with our correspondent, the Head of local organizing team for the event, Mr. Akanmi Adewale, who is also the Hybrid Feeds Sales Manager for Ogun and Lagos axis, said the event was designed to provide farmers with relevant and up-to-date information to avoid the high rate of farm shutdown observed recently.

“People that do not have good information do not know how to best manage their farms. Farmers must know how to sustain their profits so that business expansion would not be a problem. I encourage farmers to put what has been learnt at this Farmers’ Forum to use.” He concluded.
