The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation says it approved 916 operating permits in February for livestock, poultry and feed activities, including milk collection centres. The approvals covered both new licences and renewals.
Head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, Tarek Suleiman, said 264 of the permits were issued to small-scale cattle breeders. He said the projects met biosecurity and biosafety requirements in coordination with the General Organisation for Veterinary Services.
He said EGP 297.36 million was released in February to 425 beneficiaries to raise and fatten 4,251 cattle under the National Veal Project. Total funding under the programme has reached EGP 10.35 billion, benefiting 45,353 small breeders, young graduates and women to raise 526,760 cattle in villages covered by the presidential “Haya Karima” rural development initiative.
Suleiman said 513 feed products were registered during the month, including blends, additives and concentrates. The registrations included 317 locally produced and 196 imported products, approved in cooperation with the Regional Centre for Food and Feed and the Animal Production Research Institute. The ministry also issued 40 technical clearances for new livestock and poultry projects in desert hinterland areas in line with biosecurity standards.
He said technical assistance and homogeneity tests were carried out for 76 feed mills covering 178 production lines producing poultry, livestock and fish feed in several governorates. The process is part of requirements for licensing feed production.
Suleiman said 21 inspection operations were conducted at 39 feed factories and storage sites during February to ensure compliance with approved registrations and licensed production. Feed and raw material samples were tested and legal action was taken against violators.
He added that approvals were granted for exports of fish feed, feed additives and poultry products, including frozen quail, duck, pigeon and turkey, to several Arab and foreign markets.
He said applications for livestock, poultry and feed licences can be submitted through the ministry’s website, the Egypt Digital platform and government service mobile applications.
