Morocco Opens Tender for 4,000 Tons of Frozen Meat for Armed Forces

Morocco’s National Defense Administration has issued an international tender to import 4,000 tons of frozen red meat for units of the Royal Armed Forces deployed in the Southern Zone. The tender, referenced as No. 01/ADN/ZS/2026, includes 3,000 tons of frozen beef and 1,000 tons of frozen camel meat. Bids must be submitted to the Defense Administration headquarters in Rabat by March 9 at 2 p.m.

The beef supply is restricted to Brazilian producers under existing sanitary agreements and approved health certificates between Rabat and Brasília. The documents were sent to the Brazilian Embassy in Rabat by Delegate Minister Abdeltif Loudyi. The estimated value of the beef contract is 13.8 million dollars, while the camel meat lot is valued at 4.6 million dollars.

Bank guarantees are set at 276,000 dollars for the beef lot and 92,000 dollars for the camel meat lot, to be issued by a Moroccan bank. The contract period is 14 months for beef and 10 months for camel meat. Deliveries will be made to refrigerated warehouses in Agadir at 250 tons per month for beef and 100 tons per month for camel meat, starting two months after the service order.

Shipments must arrive in 40-foot refrigerated containers at temperatures of minus 18 degrees Celsius or lower, with no transhipment allowed. Cattle must be born, raised, and slaughtered in Brazil and fed only plant-based feed free of genetically modified organisms. The meat must be halal-certified, produced within three months of slaughter, and frozen between minus 35 and minus 45 degrees Celsius before storage.

Official data from Brazil’s beef exporters association shows Morocco’s beef imports from Brazil rose from 1,558 tons in 2024 to 4,806 tons last year.
