The Council worked with the Poultry Association of Senegal to hold a third and final poultry training workshop in 2025. The programme took place at the Reference Center for Poultry Professions in Diamniadio. It marked the first formal partnership between the Council and the association and focused on locally driven industry training.
Following a request from feed miller NMA Sanders, the Council extended its activities to the dairy sector. It sponsored a three-day ruminant management programme led by experts from its Regional Feed Training Center in Tunisia. The training included farm visits, farmer workshops and staff training on dairy cow nutrition, farm management and profitability.
Bouthour said Senegal depends on milk imports because domestic production is limited. He said technical support will help increase production capacity and demand for raw materials. He also said the poultry training is part of a train-the-trainers programme aimed at improving agricultural practices.
The training involved poultry producers, on-farm feed mixers and commercial feed manufacturers. Trainers selected experienced participants and identified two poultry regions to serve as pilot hubs. About 50 participants received training on poultry management, processing, feed formulation and the use of U.S. corn co-products in poultry diets. Bouthour said the Council aims to strengthen partnerships and expand the use of U.S. agricultural products in Senegal and nearby markets.
