Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, is leading a technical delegation to Argentina to support forage production and livestock development in the state. The visit is aimed at positioning Jigawa as a hub for forage production and agribusiness in Nigeria.
This was disclosed in a statement issued Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mohammed Hamisu Gumel. The statement said the mission is in partnership with El-Meena Farms Limited and international partners, including the Saudi-based Alkhoraeyef Group, to develop the alfalfa value chain.
The delegation visited agricultural facilities in Córdoba Province, including Biofarma S.A., Nafosa and Pellfood plants. The team reviewed animal health and feeding systems, mega-baling, high-density compaction and pelleting technologies, and also toured alfalfa, soy and corn farms to observe irrigation and crop management practices.
Governor Namadi said the visit is expected to support job creation and improve the state’s Internally Generated Revenue. The delegation includes the Commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr Abdurrahman Salim Lawal, and the Director-General of the Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Agency, Dr Saifullahi Umar.
