Founder and Managing Director Muhammadu Damakka Abubakar said the Green Harvest Initiative includes training and demonstration farms. Farmers will learn fodder cultivation and livestock feeding methods. Practical sessions will help them apply sustainable farming techniques.
Abubakar said poor access to feed, water, and basic services remains a challenge in Nigeria’s dairy sector. The project will train farmers on fodder production, compost use, and biodigesters. Cooperative business management will also be promoted.
Chief Operating Officer Dr Adelaja said the programme will start with 400 trainers. These trainers will cascade the training to other farmers. The project began in 2025 and is expected to run until December 2026, with a possible extension into 2027.
