More than 1,100 new operating licenses were issued in December 2025, giving a major boost to Egypt’s poultry and livestock sector. The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation granted approvals covering poultry farms, livestock breeding units, and feed production facilities, aiming to increase output, improve regulation, and stabilize the country’s food supply.

Small-scale breeders benefited significantly, gaining legal recognition and access to government support, while veterinary authorities ensured all licensed farms meet strict health and biosecurity standards. Hundreds of feed products, both locally produced and imported, also received approvals, helping farmers maintain steady production.
The surge in licensed operations coincides with easing chicken prices, offering relief to consumers, even as red meat costs continue to rise. Analysts say this combination of increased supply and stronger compliance is stabilizing the market. By formalizing producers and supporting feed production, Egypt is strengthening the poultry sector, ensuring a steady, affordable source of protein while creating new opportunities across the industry.
