The United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service said the case was confirmed on January 23. The flock has 16,100 birds.

This is the second commercial poultry flock in Georgia affected by HPAI in 2026. The first case was confirmed on January 13 in another commercial broiler breeder flock in Walker County, where 71,300 birds were affected.

Indiana flock also confirmed

APHIS also confirmed HPAI on January 13 in a commercial meat duck flock in LaGrange County, Indiana.

The Indiana State Board of Animal Health had earlier identified the flock as a presumed-positive case on January 21. Another presumed-positive case was announced in LaGrange County on January 22, but APHIS has not yet confirmed it.

So far in 2026, Indiana has recorded one confirmed HPAI case and one presumed-positive case.
