Gombe Shines on Global Stage with Spot at World Livestock Summit

Gombe has earned global attention as one of only three Nigerian states chosen to showcase its livestock transformation at the prestigious World Livestock Summit, Sommet D’élevage, in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The selection underscores the state’s bold reforms, forward-looking investments, and growing reputation as a livestock powerhouse.

The recognition came through the World Bank-supported Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project, which ranked Gombe among Nigeria’s top performers in livestock development. National Project Coordinator, Malam Sanusi Abubakar, praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership and the effective role of the State Steering and Technical Committees, describing Gombe as a model for livestock reform in the country.

Europe’s largest livestock gathering, the summit will attract global leaders in production, trade, and innovation, with sustainability and technology-driven value chains at its core. For Gombe, the platform opens doors to new investments and partnerships, particularly as the state advances its ambitious Agro-Livestock Development Zone project, complete with an ultramodern abattoir, international livestock market, tannery, and leather factory.

By engaging international investors and embracing global best practices, Gombe is positioning itself as a livestock hub not only for Nigeria but for West Africa, driving greater productivity, resilience, and economic growth.
