The strategic partnership was formalized with a ceremonial signing between NBRDA Director General, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, and Dar Al-Halal Farm CEO, Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Ladan. The agreement marks a powerful collaboration between science and agriculture—one aimed at boosting meat quality, strengthening food safety, and turning Nigeria into a competitive force in the global meat trade.

As part of the deal, NBRDA will take on the responsibility of providing advanced technical expertise. This includes research into animal breeding through modern biotechnological methods, enhancing meat quality and safety standards, and developing molecular tools to detect and combat foodborne diseases. The agency will also support regulatory compliance and disease prevention efforts.

Dar Al-Halal Farm will lead the development of the Halal Meat Hub, overseeing construction, operations, and adherence to local and international standards. The farm will also invest in upgrading NBRDA’s laboratories with modern equipment, ensuring the research keeps pace with international best practices.

At the signing ceremony, Prof. Mustapha described the partnership as a turning point for Nigeria’s agricultural and biotechnology landscape. He emphasized the long-term economic benefits, including job creation, improved livestock productivity, and enhanced food security. “The fusion of biotechnology with sustainable practices in this venture will not only boost livestock production but also ensure that we have access to healthier and more reliable food sources,” he said.

Alhaji Ladan echoed the excitement, thanking NBRDA for recognizing the potential of private-sector collaboration. He stated that the project would help Nigeria meet domestic demand while expanding its footprint in international markets. “This project represents a major milestone in our efforts to enhance food security and elevate Nigeria’s position in the international meat trade,” he said.

With both public and private sectors aligned, the Halal Meat Hub promises to usher in a new era for Nigeria’s livestock industry—powered by innovation, sustainability, and a shared vision for national growth
