The Oyo State Chapter of the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) has announced its plans to commemorate this year’s World Egg Day slated for Friday October 9, 2020 in line with Covid 19 protocols.
This was made known in a press release by the association, said that it will be observing the COVID-19
protocols while celebrating the symbolic day.
The
International Egg Commission (IEC) established the World Egg Day to raise
awareness across the globe on the importance of Egg. It is celebrated on the
second Friday in October each year.
According
to the state’s PAN, it will not be touring the state like it had done the last
years, owing to the COVID-19 guidelines prescribed.
The
re-elected Chairman of the association, Mr. Gbemisoye Agboola, announced that,
the celebration will hold at the Oyo state PAN’s secretariat, at Ajia road, off
new Ife expressway, Egbeda, Ibadan.
The
mother of the day, Her Excellency Engr Mrs Taminominini Olufunke Makinde, wife
of the Oyo state governor, will on behalf of the association, present chicken
and eggs to; school children, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, orphanage
homes, as well as patients in hospitals and centers for the blind.
Market
women and their representatives present at the venue will also be beneficiaries
of the distribution.
Agboola
also added that the association will commission an 18-seater chicken/egg
promotion hummer bus on the said day.
Also,
award will be given, in celebration of ten years anniversary of an evergreen
popular egg promotion jingle on air, known as “Baba Debo”, with presentation of
EGGS AMBASSADOR AWARD to Dr Adebayo Faleke of Fresh FM, Ibadan and other
awardees, for their contribution towards promoting eggs and poultry products in
Nigeria.
Dignitaries
to be expected are; Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR; Engr Mrs Olufunke Makinde,
wife of the Oyo state governor; Dr Debo Akande, DG, OYSADA, while Chief E.E.
Ogunaike, CFR, will be the chief host.
