Brighter Days for Commodity Export in Nigeria as Dr. Ayobami Omotoso Becomes President of CIECOBON

Following the earlier announcement of the Governing Council of Chartered Institute of Export and Commodity Brokers of Nigeria (CIECOBON), Dr. Ayobami Omotoso was inaugurated as the new president of the Institute on the 31st day of January, 2019.

The inauguration and handing over ceremony was held in Lagos where Dr. Omotoso took over the mantle of leadership from his immediate predecessor, Prof. (Sir) E. E. Chibundu, who had successfully completed his 4-year term as stipulated in the regulation of CIECOBON.

Dr. Omotoso was elected by the governing council as the most suitable for the job amidst several other contestants vying for the apex position in the Institute. Mr. Adenuga, top personnel in the Institute said, "Dr Ayobami Omotoso became a member of Chartered Institute Of Export And Commodity Brokers Of Nigeria in 2004, and today all members of the Institute in attendance are happy to give him mantle of leadership as a man of honor and for his hard work”

In his response, Dr. Omotoso expressed his joy to be granted another platform to serve humanity and heartily appreciated the Governing Council, Members and Students of the Institute as well as all well-wishers.

Here is a Brief Profile of Alhaji Chief Dr. Ayobami Abdulwaheed Omotoso FCIS, FECB:

Dr. Ayobami Abdulwaheed  Omotoso was born in Ibadan, Oyo State of Nigeria.  He holds WASCE (O/L) from Ibadan City Academy, Eleta, Ibadan, Nigeria and Marketing Diploma from George Brown College, Toronto, Canada.  

He also earns a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Economics; Second Class Upper BSc (Hons) degree in Marketing; MBA in Finance and PhD in International Finance from University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. He is a:  

(1) Member, American Marketing Association, Chicago, USA 
(2) Fellow, British Society of Commerce, London, UK 
(3) Fellow, Chartered Institute of Shipping, Lagos, Nigeria; 
(4) Fellow, Institute of Export, Lagos, Nigeria; etc. 

He has served in the following capacity: 

(1) Marketing Research Supervisor at Bank of Nova Scotia, Toronto, Canada 
(2)  Marketing Manager at Conpole Nigeria Limited; 
(3) Personal Assistant to a former Federal Minister of Finance in Nigeria;  
(4) National Coordinator of defunct Peoples Bank of Nigeria; and
(5) Senior Vice President of Maranatha Energy Inc at Houston, Texas, USA.

In addition, Dr. Ayo Omotoso served as the President of Oyo State Shippers Association (OYSSA) for twelve (12) years and currently the Chairman, Board of Trustees.

Also, he is the present National Chairman of LAKAJI Corridor States Working Group – an Agriculture, Processing, multi modal Transport  and Export Program of USAID; and Member, Board of Cargo Defense Fund under Nigerian Shippers Council.

At the moment, Dr. Omotoso works as Managing Consultant at Ayomot Limited – a Facilitators, Promoters, Business and Management Consultancy firm.

As a key facilitator to approval of OKERETE TRANSNATIONAL BORDER TOWN MARKET in Oyo State packaged and coordinated by Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment representing FGN, the immediate past Okere of Sakiland, Late (Oba Sheikh Alhaji Kelani Olatoyese Olarinre II JP MFR) honored him with a Chieftaincy title; and also received commendation letter from Saki West Local Government in 2007.

On Agriculture, under Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abuja, he is a member of National Technical Committee on Nigeria Yam Export Program (NYEP) and Chairman, Local Organizing Committee. LOC was the committee that brought Exporters and Importers (off-takers) together to export to UK and USA. 
The program was flagged-off on Thursday, 29th June, 2017 by Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh CFR. 

As a farmer friendly consultant, he is a facilitator and resource person to International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria. Among his EXPORT drive program, he has facilitated plantation and export of Yam, Cassava and Maize from Oyo State. Currently, he is facilitating investment in export of vegetables, snails and bitterkola from Nigeria to diaspora.

On social network, he is the Administrator of a program called "FUND FOR AGRIBUSINESS". Members of the platform include Farmers, Processors, Exporters, Off-takers (Importers) and investors within and outside Nigeria.

He is widely traveled and have won many laurels across the world.
