Edo State is seeking investment and cooperation from Botswana in agriculture and livestock production ahead of its planned International Agricultural and Livestock Investment Summit.
The request was made during a meeting with Botswana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Philada Kereng, at the country’s High Commission in Abuja. The Edo delegation was led by the Commissioners for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Jerry Uwangue, and Livestock Development, Ohimai Ehijimetor.
During the meeting, Kereng commended the state’s livestock development efforts and advised it to explore investment opportunities in animal feed production and agro-tourism.
She also pledged the High Commission’s support in attracting investors to the proposed summit.
The state government said the meeting was part of its consultations with diplomatic missions to secure international participation and investment.
The proposed summit is expected to connect investors with opportunities in crop production, livestock farming, feed manufacturing and related businesses across Edo State.
The engagement also included other state officials from the agriculture and livestock sectors, as the government seeks international partnerships to attract investment and technical expertise.
