The Delta State Government has allocated 100 hectares of land to Olam Agri for the construction of an animal feed production plant in Ogwashi-Uku.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori presented the Certificate of Occupancy to the company at Government House, Asaba. He said the investment would support agricultural production, create jobs and improve livelihoods in the state.
Olam Agri Managing Director, Amit Agarwal, said the company chose the South-South and South-East regions because they depend heavily on animal feed supplies from the South-West.
He explained that the proposed facility would bring production closer to markets in both regions and help address the shortage of animal feed.
The Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, Obi Ifechukwude Okonjo II, urged the company to provide employment, internship opportunities and skills development for members of the host community.
The project is expected to reduce dependence on feed supplies from the South-West and strengthen the livestock value chain in the South-South and South-East.
