Ekiti Trains Livestock Farmers on Artificial Insemination for Better Breeding

The Ekiti State Government has trained livestock farmers and inseminators on artificial insemination and other modern breeding methods to improve animal production in the state.

The training was organised by the state’s Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES, during a mass artificial insemination programme held in Ado Ekiti.

Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Ebenezer Boluwade, said the programme is aimed at improving livestock genetics, multiplying better breeds and increasing production through modern breeding technology.

He said artificial insemination can help farmers improve the genetic quality of their animals and increase productivity. The commissioner also said the government would continue to support livestock producers through training, investment and other agricultural interventions.

The programme is expected to give farmers and inseminators practical skills in improved breeding techniques and support the development of commercial livestock production across Ekiti State.
