FMLD Supports Bayelsa Farmers With Over 1,000 Livestock Feed Inputs

The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has distributed more than 1,000 livestock feed inputs to farmers across Bayelsa State to support animal nutrition and improve livestock production.

The intervention, carried out on Saturday, August 8, 2026, was implemented by the Ministry’s Department of Ranch and Pastoral Resources Development.

Representing the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, the department’s Director, Dr. Hakeem Ibilade, said the support was based on feedback from farmers in the state. He urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the inputs and organise themselves into cooperatives to improve access to future government programmes.

The State Coordinator of the Ministry, Dr. Unobong, said the items distributed included groundnut cake and salt licks, which are intended to support livestock feeding and productivity.

Another State Coordinator, Dr. Bamigboye, said improved livestock production would increase the availability of meat, eggs and milk, while creating jobs and strengthening the livestock value chain.

Beneficiaries thanked the Ministry for the intervention and called for more production inputs, equipment and machinery to help them expand their operations.
