BATN Foundation, Lagos Expand Poultry Development Partnership

BATN Foundation has launched a new poultry development programme in Lagos State to train 200 new and existing poultry farmers.

The **“Chicks to Plate”** initiative, implemented with the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority, will provide practical training in modern poultry production, farm management and agribusiness.

The foundation said 40 participating layer farmers will also receive additional business support to expand their operations.

The programme is part of an eight-year partnership between BATN Foundation and the Lagos State Government, which began in 2018 with the **“Fingerlings to Fork”** aquaculture project.

Between 2018 and 2025, the programme trained 1,436 fish farmers in aquaculture, processing, packaging, export readiness and farm management, while providing production equipment.

Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, said poultry production could improve access to animal protein, create jobs and strengthen agricultural value chains.

The state currently produces about 25 per cent of the food consumed locally and is targeting 50 per cent.

BATN Foundation Executive Director, Oludare Odusanya, said the new project would go beyond training by providing farmers with practical skills and support to improve productivity and business opportunities.

The programme will also cover biosecurity and modern poultry production methods.
