Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has suspended the Commissioner for Livestock Development, Professor Omorodion Ignatius Ikponmwosa, over alleged misconduct. The governor also approved the suspension of the Edo State Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (LPRES) Project, Mrs. Ikpikhumi Betsy Aghaku.
The suspension was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor. Both officials have been directed to hand over all LPRES Project documents, records and government property in their possession to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock Development.
They were also instructed to report to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government for a comprehensive debriefing on the implementation of the LPRES Project. The Edo State Government did not disclose the specific allegations that led to the suspensions.
The LPRES Project is a joint programme of the Federal and State Governments aimed at improving livestock production, strengthening resilience in the sector and supporting the livelihoods of livestock farmers in participating states.
