Plateau, Namibia Explore Partnership in Tourism and Livestock Development

Plateau State and the Republic of Namibia have begun discussions on a partnership aimed at boosting tourism, livestock development, mining, wildlife conservation and intra-African trade.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang hosted Namibia’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Walde Natangwe Ndevashiya, at the Government House in Jos, where both sides discussed areas of cooperation.

The High Commissioner said Namibia is seeking stronger ties with Nigerian states to support economic growth and trade within Africa. He noted that the country is ready to work with Plateau State in tourism, agriculture, mining, wildlife conservation and the creative sector.

Ndevashiya also disclosed that Namibia is considering expanding its premium beef exports to Nigeria and offered technical support in wildlife conservation and livestock development.

Governor Mutfwang described the visit as an important step toward attracting investment and strengthening Plateau State’s economy. He said Namibia’s success in wildlife conservation had inspired efforts to restore the state’s wildlife park and tourism assets.

The governor expressed confidence that the partnership would create economic opportunities for both parties and pledged the state government’s support for policy coordination, technical exchanges and investment initiatives.

Former Nigerian Ambassador to Namibia, Bagudu Hirse, also commended the move, describing Namibia as one of Africa’s leading tourism and wildlife destinations and expressing support for closer cooperation between both sides.
