Livestock Ministry Seeks Partnership to Boost Processing and Zero-Waste Production

The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has expressed its willingness to work with Greenfield Feedlots and Packaging Company to support livestock production, create jobs, strengthen food security and promote a zero-waste approach in the sector.

The minister said the livestock industry offers significant economic opportunities, noting that animal by-products such as bones, blood, horns, hides, skins and faeces can be processed into valuable products instead of being discarded. He added that the sector can support business growth and job creation.

Maiha cited the success of in Brazil as an example of the opportunities available in the livestock value chain. He said the company grew from a small meat-processing business into one of the world's largest meat producers, showing the potential for long-term investment in the industry.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ibrahim Danbauchi said the company is seeking collaboration with the ministry to develop a modern livestock processing and packaging enterprise. He requested policy support, faster approvals and assistance in connecting with international technical and financial partners. According to him, the project is expected to create jobs, increase tax revenue, support environmental sustainability and expand Nigeria’s participation in the global halal meat market.
