Burkina Faso is investing in its poultry industry to create jobs for thousands of young people and strengthen the country's food system.
The initiative focuses on expanding opportunities across the poultry value chain, including hatcheries, feed production, veterinary services, processing, transportation and marketing. Young entrepreneurs are expected to receive training in modern poultry management, business development and disease prevention to help build sustainable enterprises.
The programme also aims to improve access to finance for youth-led businesses and encourage greater participation of women in poultry production. Officials say increased investment in the sector will boost local production of eggs and chicken meat, reduce dependence on imports and support economic growth.
Authorities believe the poultry industry can play a key role in creating employment, increasing household incomes and improving food security across the country.
