Kenya recorded its highest milk production in 2025, with output rising to 5.5 million tonnes, according to the 2026 Economic Survey.
The report showed that fresh milk production increased by 3.5 per cent from the previous year, marking the third straight annual increase in the country’s dairy sector.
Processed milk volumes also rose by 13.4 per cent to 701,500 tonnes during the same period.
The survey highlighted continued growth in the dairy industry, which remains one of the country’s key agricultural sectors. The increase was linked to stronger local production and measures aimed at supporting dairy farmers and processors.
However, the report also noted financial difficulties at New KCC despite the broader gains recorded in the sector.
The latest figures show the continued role of dairy production in Kenya as efforts continue to improve milk processing and strengthen local supply chains.
