World Bank Reviews Livestock Project Progress in Kwara and Oyo

The World Bank has carried out a pre-midterm review of livestock support projects in Kwara and Oyo states.

The assessment was conducted in Ilorin under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, led by the L-PRES National Coordination Office.

Officials at the meeting included World Bank representative Hira Channa, L-PRES national team members led by Tunde Atanda, and representatives from the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and the Development Bank of Nigeria.

Speaking at the session, National Project Coordinator Sanusi Abubakar, represented by Tayo Okewoye, said the review is aimed at assessing performance across the 20 participating states. He said the exercise includes field checks, evaluation of project activities, and consultations with stakeholders.

The review will also identify gaps and best practices ahead of the main midterm review planned for Lagos.

Officials said the next phase will assess service delivery, infrastructure, climate-related practices, and how beneficiaries are selected.

The team is also expected to meet with state officials, service providers, livestock groups, and women and youth participants to gather feedback on the project.

Kwara State officials said progress recorded so far is linked to government support and ongoing investments in infrastructure and farmer training.

The Oyo State coordinator said the review will help identify challenges and guide improvements in project implementation.

Activities during the visit include progress presentations, site inspections, and meetings with key stakeholders.
