Ivory Coast Confirms Bird Flu Outbreak on Poultry Farm

Ivory Coast has reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu on a poultry farm in the eastern part of the country.

The World Organisation for Animal Health disclosed this in a report on Thursday, citing information from Ivorian authorities.

According to the report, about 95,000 poultry birds were killed by the virus in Koun-Fao district, near the border with Ghana.

The agency said the outbreak is part of the continued spread of bird flu, which has affected poultry populations in several countries in recent years.

Authorities are expected to monitor the situation as efforts continue to control the disease and prevent further losses.
