The Ondo State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project has trained 100 livestock farmers on fodder production to improve feed supply and livestock productivity.
The training took place at a two-day capacity-building programme in Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore Local Government Area.
State Project Coordinator, Olufemi Adeogun, said the participants were selected from the three senatorial districts as lead farmers who will train others in their communities.
He said the training covered fodder establishment, hay and silage production, hydroponic fodder production and the use of crop residues for livestock feeding.
Adeogun said the programme is aimed at improving feed availability and helping farmers address seasonal feed shortages and rising feed costs.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Leye Akinola, represented by Permanent Secretary Foluke Daramola, said the training would help farmers improve the quality and quantity of livestock feed in the state.
Livestock farmers who participated in the programme said the training would help improve production.
