MOUAU VC Pledges Support for Tinubu’s Agricultural Policies

The new Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Professor Ursula Ngozi-Akanwa, says her administration will promote President Bola Tinubu’s agricultural and education policies.

Ngozi-Akanwa, the first female Vice Chancellor of the university, spoke during her inauguration as the seventh Vice Chancellor.

She said her goal is to transform the university into a centre for agricultural research, innovation and enterprise.

The Vice Chancellor said the university would focus on producing skilled graduates with knowledge in agricultural innovation, technology and agribusiness. She said the aim is to train graduates who can create jobs and support Nigeria’s food production.

Ngozi-Akanwa said her administration would maintain transparent management and uphold academic standards. She also said efforts would be made to complete ongoing projects and improve staff welfare.

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, was established in 1992 as a federal university of agriculture. The institution currently has more than 39,000 students across several colleges and departments.
