Minister of Livestock Development, Maiha Mukhtar, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s livestock sector. He spoke after receiving the 2025 Best Minister Award from the Daily Asset Newspaper.

Mukhtar said the ministry is moving from policy statements to implementation, with focus on sedentarisation, mechanisation, dairy development, youth participation and the adoption of technology across the livestock value chain. He thanked the organisers and described the recognition as humbling.
He said government plans to position livestock as a key contributor to GDP, rural jobs, national food security and peace. According to him, Nigeria has the resources to achieve higher productivity and competitiveness in livestock production.
Daily Asset Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Dr Cletus Akwaya, said the minister was selected for his leadership, policy clarity and measurable impact in repositioning the livestock sector for peace building, food security and economic diversification.
