The initiative, launched under the Federal Ministry of Education’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, will run for six months and equip participants with practical skills in poultry production and animal husbandry. Forty trainees will specialise in poultry farming, while the rest will focus on animal husbandry — all at no cost.
Founder and CEO of the farm, Aremu Olushola, said during the orientation session in Ilorin that the project aims to turn young Nigerians into skilled agripreneurs capable of driving food security and job creation. He explained that each participant will receive monthly stipends and start-up support to help them transition from trainees to business owners.
“Our vision is to raise self-reliant agripreneurs who can contribute meaningfully to the nation’s food production and economic stability,” Olushola said. “This programme is not just about training; it’s about empowering youth with the tools and confidence to build sustainable livelihoods.”
He commended the Federal Government for expanding the TVET scheme to bridge the gap between education and employment, saying the collaboration reflects a growing recognition of agriculture’s potential to tackle unemployment.
Through partnerships with private training centres like Are Olushola Farm, the government hopes to extend the impact of TVET beyond classrooms — ensuring agriculture becomes a strong pillar of youth empowerment and national development.
