The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources in the Sultanate of Oman, has imported more than 428,000 live animals to meet consumer demand for red meat this season.

This includes 29,092 heads of cattle and 399,357 heads of sheep and goats. The imports are being coordinated with specialized companies and the Veterinary Quarantine Centre to ensure food security and stabilize meat supply in Oman.
Veterinary staff at the Quarantine Department are rigorously inspecting all imported animals to ensure they are free from contagious diseases, acting as the first line of defense against potential outbreaks.
The government’s proactive measures aim to maintain public health and safeguard the country’s livestock industry from epidemic risks, reinforcing Oman’s commitment to strict biosecurity standards.
