Ondo Charts Bold Future with 30-Year Development Plan, Creating 75,000 Poultry Jobs for Youths

Ondo State has unveiled a sweeping 30-year development vision, “ONDO 2056,” designed to position the state as a beacon of innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth—while already generating 75,000 jobs for young people through its poultry farming initiative.

The ambitious plan was presented during a two-day Stakeholders’ Validation Workshop in Akure, drawing together experts, community leaders, and citizens who refined the framework for the state’s long-term transformation.

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Laolu Akindolire, described the blueprint as a product of science, collaboration, and vision—strategically aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Nigeria’s Agenda 2050, and the state’s “OUR EASE” policy. He emphasized that the process goes beyond paperwork, calling it a platform that empowers citizens to shape their own future. “We are building a state where everyone has a stake and a voice,” he said.

The ONDO 2056 plan sets a clear path for progress in key areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, technology, and environmental resilience. It provides a roadmap for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to translate long-term ambitions into tangible short- and medium-term actions.

Representatives from across the state—including traditional rulers, youth groups, academics, civil society, and media—took part in crafting the shared vision. Akindolire described the event as a “landmark moment” that captures the collective dreams of Ondo’s people and sets the stage for sustained prosperity over the next three decades.

Administrative Secretary of the Economic Planning and Coordinating Office, Mr. Bamidele Daisi, praised the initiative as a “compass for inclusive growth and sustainability,” commending Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his foresight and leadership.

Adding intellectual weight to the discussions, Professors Adegboyega Oguntade and Tomola Obamuyi from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, facilitated technical sessions that refined the final framework—anchoring the ONDO 2056 plan as both visionary and practical, built to serve generations to come.
