Hysolv Unveils Groundbreaking Natural Solution to Combat Coccidiosis in UK Poultry Industry

A breakthrough in poultry health has arrived in the UK as Hysolv unveiled Alquernat Zycox, a next-generation product offering broiler farmers a natural, residue-free alternative to chemical coccidiostats.

Developed in Spain by Biovet, the innovative feed additive uses a patented blend of plant-based compounds—such as essential oils, phytoproteins, amino acids, and glycosides—to help birds resist coccidiosis, one of the poultry industry’s most costly diseases. Unlike traditional chemicals, Zycox prevents resistance buildup in coccidia species and can be safely used throughout the production cycle without any withdrawal period or residue concerns.

Hysolv’s managing director, Jim Bigmore, described the product as “a genuine game-changer” for poultry producers under increasing pressure to move away from antibiotics and chemical treatments. He explained that Zycox strengthens the bird’s local immune response in the gut, disrupting the coccidia life cycle and enhancing the effectiveness of vaccines.

Farmers can include Zycox as a 25 kg premix at 0.5 kg per tonne of feed, while a complementary version, Zycox-L, can be added to drinking water during high-risk stages to prevent late-cycle infections. The product has already proven its reliability in more than 2.5 million birds across multiple continents, consistently improving feed conversion, growth rates, and survival outcomes.

Coccidiosis costs the UK poultry sector an estimated £108 million every year, making effective, sustainable control crucial. With Zycox, producers now have a potent tool that not only protects their flocks but also supports a global shift toward cleaner, more responsible poultry production.
