Governor Yahaya praised L-PRES as a transformative partner and welcomed the recent approval of a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital for Gombe—an endorsement that aligns perfectly with his administration’s vision for a fully integrated livestock ecosystem. This landmark facility will complement the state's ultramodern abattoir, international livestock market, and other flagship projects within the expansive 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Development Zone.
Malam Abubakar, visibly impressed by the state’s ongoing progress, commended Governor Yahaya’s leadership and foresight. He described the Agro-Livestock Development Zone as one of Nigeria’s most promising hubs for animal health services and livestock innovation. The L-PRES team also acknowledged the revitalization of the 144,000-hectare Wawa-Zange Grazing Reserve, a long-neglected resource now being restored for ranching, milk production, and climate-resilient livestock management.
The L-PRES National Office confirmed Gombe’s selection as one of only four states piloting the Private Veterinary Practice Programme, citing the governor’s proactive policies and sustained commitment as key factors. According to Malam Abubakar, the decision to award Gombe the Modern Veterinary Hospital stemmed from the state’s performance and readiness to lead a new era in livestock health and diagnostics.
Construction progress at the Gombe Ultramodern Abattoir also earned high praise, with the project poised to become a critical component of the state’s livestock value chain. From meat processing to disease surveillance and research, the facility is expected to improve food safety and open new market opportunities for farmers and herders.
Malam Abubakar urged Governor Yahaya, as Chairman of the Northern Nigeria Governors’ Forum, to spearhead broader regional collaboration with L-PRES. He stressed the importance of leveraging Gombe’s success to inspire similar investments across the North, where millions depend on livestock for survival.
With each new milestone, Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration is redefining livestock development—not just as an agricultural endeavor, but as a strategic economic force capable of transforming rural lives and securing long-term prosperity for the region.
