The initiative aims to enhance livestock productivity, strengthen food security, and reduce farmer-herder conflicts in Nigeria.
L-PRES State Officer Mallam Nureni Razaq emphasized that increased fodder production would reduce competition for food between humans and livestock, alleviating tensions and improving farmers’ livelihoods. The training, held at Bayero University Kano (BUK), featured both theoretical and practical components.
Participants learned techniques for processing crop residues and forest trees into livestock feed, as well as marketing strategies and storage solutions.
Dr. Abdulkareem Ajeigbe from the CDA highlighted that the program equips farmers with essential skills to ensure sustainable livestock farming. Participants expressed optimism that the training would contribute to economic growth and a more resilient livestock sector.
