The Advantage Assam 2.0 investment summit, launched by the Government of Assam, has resulted in the signing of 13 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, totaling Rs 1,354.34 crore in investments.
National and international investors, including Subhiksha Feeds & Farms Pvt Ltd., CPF India Pvt. Ltd., SS Poultries, and AMUL Dairy, have shown strong interest in the state's animal husbandry sector. These investments are expected to boost Assam’s economic growth, create jobs, and enhance industry infrastructure.
The summit aims to position Assam as a key investment destination by fostering a business-friendly environment and attracting domestic and global stakeholders. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state government has actively engaged in securing investment commitments to transform the region’s economy. The event has been a platform for collaboration between government and private sector players to drive long-term development.
In a significant announcement, the Adani Group committed to investing Rs 50,000 crore in Assam, focusing on infrastructure projects such as airports, aero cities, city gas distribution, transmission, cement, and road networks. Similarly, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani pledged an investment exceeding Rs 50,000 crore over the next five years, while JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal announced expansion plans in Assam’s cement and energy sectors.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, who attended the summit in Guwahati, revealed that the Assam state cabinet had already approved MoUs worth over Rs 1.2 lakh crore. With total investments expected to surpass Rs 1.5 lakh crore through the summit, Advantage Assam 2.0 is set to be a game-changer in accelerating economic progress and development in the state.
