Innovative Poultry Feed Seminar Empowers Livestock Farmers in Sunyan

In a bid to boost the country's poultry and fish sectors, a poultry feed seminar was recently organized for livestock farmers in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital. The event, which brought together over 100 farmers, was a collaborative effort between Intraco Ltd, a leading supplier of feed concentrates, and Sky Agro and Aquaculture Solutions Ltd.

The seminar aimed to educate farmers on the importance of producing high-quality feed for their poultry and fish, as well as to increase local production to reduce reliance on imports. Intraco Ltd, a Belgium-based company with a strong presence in Ghana, is investing in the country's livestock feed industry to achieve this goal.

During the seminar, farmers received comprehensive training on various aspects of feed production, including nutrition, phases of feed production, heat stress management, and biosecurity products. They also learned how to maintain their farms and birds, ensuring optimal health and productivity.

In his keynote address, Steven Van, Africa Area Sales Manager of Intraco Ltd, highlighted the importance of the feed sector in Ghana. He noted that while the country's population is increasing, particularly among the youth, the feed sector has been declining. "Ghana needs more protein to feed its growing youthful population, and poultry and fish are essential sources of protein," he emphasized.

To address this challenge, Intraco Ltd has developed tailor-made feed solutions using high-quality ingredients. The company's team worked closely with local farmers to understand their specific needs, taking into account the available raw materials and technical infrastructure in Ghana. This collaborative approach has enabled Intraco Ltd to offer customized feed products that meet the unique requirements of Ghanaian farmers.

The seminar was a significant step towards empowering livestock farmers in Ghana to produce high-quality feed for their poultry and fish, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the country's feed industry.
