Nigerian Army Commissions Livestock Market & Abattoir in Abuja

In a bid to support the easy movement of livestock majorly from States up North to Southern States in Nigeria, the leadership of Nigerian Army implemented the creation of an International Livestock Market and Abattoir.

During the formal opening of the International Livestock Market cited at Anagada Abuja, Major General Enobong Udoh, the Chief of Logistics, (Army), who represented the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai at the event said all kinds of Cattle species either locally or imported will be fit to be accomodated at the newly cited Market and Abattoir.

Speaking further he said, the main target of the project is to support the effort of the Federal Government of Nigeria in providing qualitative welfare services for its personnel and employment generation initiatives, to reduce economic heat in the country.

He added that “one of the main reasons that informed the establishment of this international livestock market was the desire to generate employment for dependents of Nigerian Army personnel in accordance with the objectives of the Barrack Investment Initiative.”
