The Nigeria Poultry Show 2018 titled, “Repositioning the Nigeria Poultry: Path to Economic Recovery and Growth Plan,” held in Abeokuta, Ogun State was well graced by top players in the poultry and feed industries including Premier Feed Mills, maker of Top Feeds, CHI farms, HI Nutrients, Grand Cereals, Jesswol International and so on.
The Annual Nigeria Poultry Show was declared open this year by the Honourable Commissioner of Agriculture, Ogun State ably represented by Dr. Dotun Sorunke, the Director of Livestock services, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture.
The CEO of Grand Cereals, Muktar Yakasi, spoke on the theme and pointed out the great potential of the Nigerian poultry industry; which includes egg, meat and feed production. He lamented the lack of basic poultry infrastructures and the high cost of farm inputs which currently plague the industry in the country today. He ended by commending the government’s intervention with schemes such as, ‘the CBN anchor borrowers scheme, NIRSAL” and the ban imposed on the importation of poultry products.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ezekiel Ibrahim, the National President of the Poultry Association of Nigeria expressed his displeasure, “I am happy and I am also not happy” he said while commenting on the absence of the Ogun State Governor and Former President Olusegun Obasanjo whom he considered as key personalities in the poultry industry. He concluded his speech by thanking all the companies and organizations present at the event for ensuring the Nigeria Poultry Show 2018 a huge success.
The 3 days event garnished with exhibitions of the latest poultry technologies, lectures and networking with giant players in the Nigeria poultry industry was brought to a close with the closing speech by Dr. Olalekan Odunsi the Chairman, Organizing Committee, Nigeria Poultry Show 2018.
