The Nigerian Air Force has entered a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development to support food security across the country.
In a statement released Thursday, the Air Force said the move is part of efforts to link national security with agricultural development through its NAF Farms Limited initiative.
Representing the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet led a delegation to both ministries alongside the Managing Director of NAF Farms Limited, Air Vice Marshal Abdulrasheed Kotun, and other senior officers.
During talks with the Ministry of Livestock Development, the Air Force praised ongoing efforts to expand ranching programmes, livestock partnerships and national livestock centres. It also sought support for modern livestock farming through improved breeds, veterinary services and specialised training.
Livestock Development Minister, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, described the partnership as important and commended the Air Force for its role in national security.
At the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Air Force also commended government interventions aimed at stabilising food prices, boosting dry-season farming and improving food reserves.
Agriculture Minister, Senator Abubakar Kyari, assured the delegation of the ministry’s support, especially in areas such as mechanised farming, improved seedlings and fertiliser supply.
Both ministries said plans are underway for technical cooperation and policy support to strengthen NAF Farms Limited and increase food production nationwide.
