Egypt Fish Authority Dismisses Claims of Poultry Carcasses in Fish Feed

Egypt’s fish resources authority has denied reports claiming that dead poultry is being used in fish feed production.

In a statement released Sunday, the Lakes and Fish Resources Protection and Development Agency described the reports and videos circulating on the issue as baseless and irresponsible.

The agency said there is no official evidence showing that the poultry shown in the reports was meant for fish feed production or had entered any fish feed manufacturing process.

It assured the public that fish produced in Egypt’s fish farms are safe for consumption and said the sector remains under strict supervision.

According to the agency, safety measures include regular inspection of feed ingredients and quality, veterinary and health monitoring of farmed fish, and continuous checks throughout all stages of production up to harvest.

The agency also said fish farms in the country follow local and international biosecurity standards, adding that any violation involving banned or unsafe materials is dealt with immediately.
